Position Summary: Director of Development 

The Director of Development is a strategic, donor-facing leader responsible for advancing the mission of Children’s Flight of Hope by securing and growing philanthropic support. This role leads and executes a comprehensive low to mid-tier development strategy in close partnership with the CEO, staff, and Board of Directors. 

The Director of Development builds and stewards meaningful relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, and foundations - translating mission into investment and ensuring sustainable revenue growth. This position drives a results-oriented culture grounded in collaboration, accountability, and measurable impact. 

Key responsibilities include overseeing all fundraising initiatives, strengthening donor engagement and retention, polished event execution, and identifying new growth opportunities. The Director of Development has the opportunity to expand and shape a high-performing development team aligned with the organization’s strategic vision. 

Key Responsibilities 

Development 

  • Key contributor of a $4M+ annual development portfolio across individual, corporate, foundation, and event revenue streams. 

  • Engage and steward of an established portfolio of low to mid-tier donors and partners, deepening relationships and increasing long-term support. 

  • Expand the network of supporters by identifying, cultivating, and securing new donors and partners. 

  • Build and manage a strong donor pipeline, leveraging CRM tools to track engagement and performance. 

  • Partner with staff, board, volunteers and extended CFOH community to strengthen fundraising efforts and expand opportunities. 

  • Managing of Donor Relations Coordinator. 

Marketing and Communications 

  • Partner with staff to deliver compelling, mission-driven messaging across all channels. 

  • Collaborate on integrated fundraising campaigns and donor communications. 

Events 

  • Serve as a key contributor to the success of Children’s Flight of Hope’s three signature events, driving revenue, engagement, and polished mission-driven execution. 

  • Team lead for event execution – mission forward, logistics, communications, on-line platforms, etc. 

  • Delegation and management of appropriate event details to other team members. 

  • Collaboration with Board and community volunteers to meet gross and net revenue goals. 

  • Support community events held on behalf of the organization. 

  • Lead donor cultivation events and strengthen relationships with sponsors and partners. 

Skills and Experience 

  • 5+ years of nonprofit development leadership experience with proven results. 

  • Established Triangle-based network 

  • Demonstrated success in meeting revenue targets through partnerships, campaigns. 

  • Demonstrated success with well-executed events such as golf, galas, and peer-to-peer models. 

  • Strong knowledge of fundraising strategy, donor engagement, and nonprofit best practices. 

  • Experience with CRM systems and cross-functional collaboration 

  • Deep commitment to the mission and families served. 

  • Relationship-driven, strategic, and results-oriented with a strong hunter mindset 

  • Proactive, adaptable, and accountable, with a focus on delivering measurable outcomes.

About the Opportunity 

CFOH is seeking a Director of Development to lead market expansion and revenue generation across the North Dallas corridor. This is a high-impact, externally facing role responsible for building a sustainable, multi-channel fundraising pipeline and establishing CFOH as a recognized and supported organization in North Texas. With market success, in time, this role has the opportunity to manage additional team members in North Texas. 

Key Responsibilities 

Market Expansion & Strategic Revenue Growth 

  • Lead the development and execution of a Dallas market strategy centered on pipeline development, major gift growth, and long-term revenue sustainability. 

  • Establish Dallas as a revenue-generating market within CFOH’s national footprint. 

  • Identify, prioritize, and pursue opportunities across individuals, corporations, and foundations. 

  • Build a qualified and continuously replenished pipeline to support revenue growth. 

Individual Philanthropy 

  • Together with the CEO, develop and manage a portfolio of high-capacity prospects and donors. 

  • Lead all aspects of gift strategy, including identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. 

  • Build meaningful, trust-based relationships with donors, aligning their philanthropic goals with CFOH’s mission and growth strategy. 

Pipeline Development & Donor Conversion 

  • Execute disciplined moves management with a clear focus on momentum, forward movement, and timely conversion. 

  • Track and manage pipeline health, ensuring consistent progression from initial engagement to closed gifts and renewal. 

  • Increase conversion rates, retention, and lifetime value across all donor segments. 

Corporate & Foundation Partnerships 

  • Develop and close strategic partnerships with corporations and foundations across the North Dallas corridor. 

  • Position CFOH as a compelling partner for corporate social responsibility, financial support, and sponsorship. 

  • Build a pipeline of institutional funding opportunities aligned with regional priorities. 

Market Presence & Network Expansion 

  • Serve as an ambassador for CFOH, building credibility within key communities. 

  • Leverage existing relationships while proactively cultivating new networks. 

  • Consistently seek out and initiate new relationships, with an emphasis on high-value networks and decision-makers. 

  • Represent CFOH at events and forums that drive relationship-building and pipeline growth. 

Revenue Execution & Accountability 

  • Own and deliver against clearly defined revenue targets. 

  • Partner with leadership to forecast revenue, monitor performance, and adjust strategy to ensure goals are met or exceeded. 

Skills & Experience 

  • Proven success securing significant gifts from individuals, corporations, and/or foundations 

  • Track record of consistently meeting or exceeding annual revenue targets 

  • Demonstrated ability to build, manage, and convert a full donor pipeline—from prospecting through close and stewardship 

  • Deep understanding of the Dallas philanthropic landscape, with ability to quickly build credibility and relationships 

  • Demonstrated ability to confidently lead donor solicitations, navigate objections, and secure commitments 

  • Skilled in structuring gift agreements (including multi-year commitments) and guiding donors to close 

  • 6–8+ years in nonprofit development experience, with increasing responsibility 

  • Ability to operate independently 

  • Hours can be flexible: 25-40 hours per week
